Cremation Tree Planting - Know Your Zone

We're often asked if we sell Memorial Trees, also known as Cremation Trees. The answer is no.

You don't need us to, nor do we want to.

What makes a Cremation Tree planting special is your Loved One, not the tree's species.

Planting a tree with ashes for your Living Memorial does take some thought, but narrowing down your options by Planting Zone is a great place to start.

Your best move is to trust your Local Outdoor Garden Nursery, and here are 3 reasons why:

Your Local Nursery won’t sell an outdoor Tree or Plant that can’t survive in your Growing Zone.

 It’s bad business.

You and your family can hand-pick the perfect Living Tribute, making it even more special.

For Living Memorials - Preparation is Key

Planting a Tree with Ashes

The Arbor Day Foundation's guidelines are backed by extensive research and experience, ensuring that your tree is given the best possible conditions for growth. By following these tips, you'll help the tree establish strong roots, promoting healthy development and long-term resilience.

We highly recommend following the ADF's guidelines when planting your tree.

Once you have combined your Aspiring Ashes Cremation Ash Soil Mixture and your Loved Ones Ashes to create a Living Memorial Soil Blend, gradually mix in your blend as you back-fill the hole with the native soil you removed, and any Bumper Crop Fertilizer Soil you may have on hand.

It's crucial to plant the tree on firm ground and tamp down the soil in layers for stability. When done correctly, staking the tree should not be necessary.

Safety Zones

Prioritize finding a SAFETY ZONE.

Always take into account the full-grown height and diameter of the tree.

Ensuring there’s no future interference with nearby trees, buildings, or utilities will help protect both the safety and longevity of your Living Memorial.

Flower Pot - Container Guide

Our colorful stepped diagram makes it easy to determine how many Share-Packs fit into each pot. This ensures your Living Memorial has the right balance of cremation soil  and potting soil for optimal plant growth.

  • Small Planter (12" x 12"): Holds 1 Share-Pack
  • Medium Planter (14" x 14"): Holds 2 Share-Packs
  • Large Planter (16" x 16"): Holds 3 Share-Packs
  • Extra-Large Planter (18" x 18"): Holds 4 Share-Packs

If you have 4 Share-Packs, you have flexible options:

Try these options:

  • Plant 2 medium planters, or
  • Plant 1 small and 1 large planter.

Each Share-Pack should be paired with 2 gallons of plant-specific potting soil for the best results.
